World Diabetes Day Event Recap

What was this event for ?

This event was to promote awareness of World Diabetes Day, an international campaign which falls on Banting's birthday (discoverer of insulin!)

What did we do ?

We had a trivia game, sold diabetes-friendly baked goods for donations, and photobooth contest happening -- with each activity done, each participant got one entry ballot for our raffle (so if they did three, then got three entries!! How awesome?)

What did people win?

If you answered all the trivia Q's correctly, you got them free tea samples!
The raffle was for 3 gift baskets of assorted food! (Please see previous post for WINNERS !)

Who showed up?

Lots of people with T1 and T2 diabetes came up to our table, and there was an open house with prospective students + parents as well !
We all got to meet a lot of new people :)

PHC and HOL volunteers came out to the event as well, in full support!

What did we all learn?

We and hopefully you all learned more about diabetes through the trivia game (spin the wheel and answer T/F and Q's about diabetes)!

BIG THANKS to everyone that showed up and can't wait to meet the rest of you at our next event !

Clothesline Drive

Tomorrow is the last day for our annual Clothesline Donation Drive. Any donation - big or small - would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your support!

Thursday 29 January 2015

CDAR Clothesline

CDAR will be beginning the clothing donation with Clothesline FEBRUARY 1st through MARCH 2nd!

You can donate all cloth based items. This includes bedding, sleeping bags, belts and ties, and blankets.

One hundred per cent of net proceeds raised by Clothesline directly support the Canadian Diabetes Association and world-leading diabetes research, education and advocacy.

Money raised will be identified as revenue generated from the local community. Since the CDA seeks to maximize every dollar made, money is pooled at the National level and used at all levels of the CDA. The branches use the allocated funds to run community service activities.

We had a generous amount donated last year all thanks for your help. This year we need your help again, so drop by your donations at the Student Campus Centre Lobby!
